I did this hike starting at 6:45 AM on July 13, 2022. The first part was fairly popular and steep in places. It’s a really good work out for the heart and lungs. From Cowles mountain peak, you pick up the Pyles Peak Trail. It’s much nicer than the service road and is less popular. The trail is very nice with up and down switchbacks.
